Guardian Program

Do you know what would happen if you were no longer here to take care of your cats? Have you made plans for your beloved fur-kids? Many people do not have a friend or relative to appoint as a guardian for their cat. With our Guardian Program, you never have to worry about what will happen to your cat when you pass away. You will have peace of mind that your treasured companions will be well cared for when the need arises.

When an owner passes away, cats that are enrolled in the Guardian Program will be taken to SCSCR. They will either be placed in the Adoption Program, or live at the SCSCR sanctuary for the remainder of their lives. This decision is based on the needs of the cat, as well as the desires of the owner.

The Guardian Program is a service for people who specify in their Will or trust documents that their cat(s) are to be entrusted to SCSCR at the time of their death, and who make annual donations to SCSCR (of any amount).

SCSCR is a nonprofit animal welfare organization supported solely by the generosity of its contributors. Annual tax deductable gifts to the Guardian Program help us provide homeless cats with a loving home until a permanent home can be found.

In addition, a bequest made to SCSCR creates a lasting memorial to furry family members and may also reduce estate taxes. Bequests made to charity are usually taken from the government's portion of the estate, and not from the heirs of the estate.
