Elderly Assistance Program

Q: What is it?

A: The EAP was designed to assist elderly community members care for their cats. We believe that cats should be able to stay in their homes with the people they love, but we understand that a point in time may come when a senior citizen cannot fully care for their pets without help.

Our volunteers go to the homes of these community members and help in whatever way they can, including taking cats to the vet, going shopping for cat food or litter, and helping change out litter boxes.

Q: Who is eligible?

A: Any senior citizen residing in Sheridan County.

Q: How does it work?

A: SCSCR volunteers will talk to you over the phone to determine your needs. We will then make a home visit and assist you in whatever way we can.

Q: How often can you help an elderly community member?

A: As often as needed, within reason. We cannot come to your home everyday, but could come once or twice a week to help with litter boxes or shopping.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: We provide this service free of charge. However, donations of any size are always welcomed and appreciated. We will always provide the highest quality service possible, whether or not we receive a donation.
