Adoption Program

SCSCR makes a lifetime commitment to each cat it rescues and places through adoption. We never want these animals to be homeless again. Accordingly, our adoption contract requires any individual who adopts a cat from our program to return it to us for re-homing should they ever find, for any reason, they are no longer able to provide it with a home. In addition, we are committed to doing all we can to stem the tide of homeless animals by requiring that all animals adopted from our program be spayed/neutered.

We only adopt out cats that are healthy and that we believe will easily adapt to a new home. Cats who have been abused may stay with us for a very long time while they learn to relax among humans.

Q: What happens to cats who don't get adopted?

A: Some cats remain at SCSCR for their entire lives. Others have been with us over 5 years before going to their new families! This is because we always want to make a good match. We take into account what kind of cat the family is looking for, and find them the perfect new family member. Special-needs cats are very hard to place, and we only adopt them out to families who understand the challenges and joys of caring for them.
